Pre-trial review Babel case
WILLEMSTAD - The Babel case involving former Prime Minister of Curaçao and current Member of Parliament and leader of the opposition party, MFK, Gerrit Schotte will be presented in a pre-trial review on March 20 of this year. This is according to a press release emitted by the Public Prosecutor (OM).
Schotte is suspected of fraud, money laundering and forgery.
A decision will also be taken on any request made by Schotte’s attorneys. There is no known date for the trial of the criminal case against the MFK leader and his partner Cicely van der Dijs.
The case was supposed to be presented before the court on January 16 of this year, but was postponed due to unknown reasons. The prosecution now reports that the investigation was not yet completed. Furthermore, one of the lawyers of the suspects indicated that he will not be on the island on that day.
