Process against corrupt cop postponed
WILLEMSTAD - The case against police officer Xavier de Windt which was supposed to start today has been postponed.
De Windt has admitted that he has provided the No Limit Soldiers gang information about the flight on which Jais Juliana was going to arrive at the Hato airport. Juliana of the Buena Vista City gang was shot dead on July 15 last year with his cousin Shantley Arnhem upon leaving the arrival hall. This incident became known as the airport shooting.
De Windt was in need of money and was paid for his information. The reason that the prosecution case has now been postponed is that one of the lawyers wishes to have further psychiatric investigation into possible personality disorders. The new lawyer of the officer has made a request and it was granted.
The investigation will be carried out by a psychiatrist in the Netherlands, where De Windt is being held. Soon after his arrest, he was transferred there for safety reasons.
