Rates for medical specialists dates back from 1986

Court houseWILLEMSTAD – In a lawsuit between physicians and the government about the rates to visit a specialist, the court said that this had to be adjusted. The current rate for a consultation dates back to 1986, and was never adjusted. According to the judge, this is not correct. Rates should be adjusted according to the price index. But the judge also said that he will not force the government to adjust the rates. It is up to the government to decide when it will do so, says the court.

According to the president of the medical specialists association, Nena Abbad, it is important to meet with the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Ben Whiteman on this issue as soon as possible to see how the rates will be adjusted. Depending on the results of the negotiations with the Minister, the association will then decide how to proceed.
