Route Düsseldorf attractive for drug mules
WILLEMSTAD - Last year, the customs at the Düsseldorf airport intercepted over 800 kilos of drugs originating from Curaçao. These were brought in by drug couriers on the weekly flight of Airberlin.
A quarter of all jail cells in Dusseldorf are now occupied by these couriers. The route through Germany is popular even among other criminals since the German customs has no access to the database of the Royal Military Police at the Amsterdam airport Schiphol. Multiple offenders, therefore, are not in the system.
