Twelve arrests during Carnival’s Parade

Public ProsecutionWILLEMSTAD - During the Gran Marcha (Big Parade) there were twelve arrests made in the context of 'Aktua Robes, Sintie Unbes (Campaign called act wrong, feel it immediately). This was reported by the Public Prosecutor (OM). A sixteen year old boy was arrested for driving on a quad without valid documents in his possession.

In addition, arrests were made due to intoxication, marijuana possession and driving a motorcycle without a helmet.

In two cases the detainees paid a fine and were not summoned to court; a fine of 400 guilders for insulting a police officer and a fine of 800 guilders for not having the papers of a motorcycle. Some motorcycles were also seized. The owners can pick them up at the end of the carnival period.

The police announced earlier that they will act strong during carnival. In the context of 'Aktua Robes, Sintié Unbes' offenders are addressed equally. For certain offenses, perpetrators will not be prosecuted if they immediately pay the fine at the police station.
