Two police officers arrested in human trafficking case
WILLEMSTAD – Two police officers were arrested in the human trafficking case involving the Bandera Grill bar. They are suspected of perjury and document forgery.
Earlier, the owners of the grill bar and another police officer were arrested. The owner then had a sign posted on this bar with the names of the two officers. He accused them of corruption.
The case came to light the owner accused the police of kidnapping a Venezuelan woman who supposedly worked as a sex worker in his bar.
The woman herself indicated that she was tricked into coming to Curaçao. She was told that she could get a normal job here and make good money to help her family in Venezuela. Once she arrived here, she noticed that it was not what she had been promised. Instead, she had to work as a sex worker.
