10% of the population is Venezuelan
WILLEMSTAD - The Minister of Justice Quincy Girigorie indicated during a debate in parliament that 26,000 Venezuelans live in Curaçao. Almost 10,000 of them have a residence permit and are legally on the island.
16,000 entered or stayed via illegal routes after their tourist visa expired. That is 10 percent of the population on the island. In Colombia, 2 percent of the population consists of refugee Venezuelans, says Girigorie.
