134 homes for 3500 house hunters
WILLEMSTAD – The government will invest seven million guilders in social housing. According to the government, next year they will construct over 130 houses.
These social houses are intended for those with a minimum wage. Curaçao has in this category over 3500 house hunters.
Those who are lucky enough to get such a property will have to pay between 100 and 250 guilders per month per house. These houses will be built in the areas of Tera Kora, Sapate, Montaña, Barber and Bonam.
Furthermore, through Social Affairs, one million guilders has been budgeted for infrastructure. The first houses are expected to be ready next May in Tera Kora.
On the waiting list of the Social Housing Foundation (FKP) there are more than 3500 people registered who earn no more than the minimum wage. Besides the now announced 134 new homes, FKP is also engaged in the project Wechi, where a whole neighborhood will be constructed. This project is for the middle class.
