16,000 registrations for King’s Games
WILLEMSTAD - Sixteen thousand children will participate in the King’s Games in Curacao this coming Friday. On that day various sports and games are organized for children from primary schools. The sports day will be held in the Netherlands and the Caribbean on the same day. The opening takes place at the Marnixschool in Rio Canario.
The starting signal is given by the Governor of Curaçao, H.E. Lucille George-Wout. It is the third time the sporting event for children is organized on the Friday before King's day.
In total, more than 5300 primary schools will participate. This equates to approximately 1.1 million primary school pupils in the Netherlands and in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. All children receive a free King’s breakfast. In addition, all registered schools will receive a sponsored sports package. The idea is that children are encouraged to exercise and to adopt a healthy diet.
