230 millon guilders needed to get Aqualectra out of trouble

WILLEMSTAD – Aqualectra director Darick Jonis met with the interim government where he indicated how the financial situation of the company is. Jonis said that Aqualectra has two priorities and the first one is to comply with the company’s financial responsibilities and secondly to create the necessary climate to get funds for investments. A sum of 230 million guilders is urgently needed.

Prime Minister Stanley Betrian announced during the parliament meeting that he had spoken with Jonis and will continue to do so. They will analyze the measures proposed by the director to safeguard the company and also to restore relations between Aqualectra and Curoil.

Aqualectra is in need of help to get out of the financial problem it is in at this moment. Aqualectra’s debt is calculated at 80 million guilders right now and this will be priority number one. At the same they, the director is conscious that it is very important to invest urgently in the company.

The director is also conscious that there is the need to create a good investment climate for the company to get the necessary funds. The critical point is that Aqualectra must invest, “better yesterday than tomorrow” according to Jonis.

The company has a plan to on how to pay back the 80 million guilders to Curoil. In any case, Darick Jonis concluded that he presented where the company is standing right now and what the plans are to take it forward.
