6,000 kilos of marijuana intercepted during routine inspection
WILLEMSTAD - The Dutch Royal Navy has intercepted 6,000 kilograms of marijuana during a routine inspection in the Caribbean Sea. The drugs were found aboard the fishing boat Caribbean Soul.
The boat came from Jamaica and was sailing to Guyana. Never before did the station ship Zr.Ms. Zeeland such a big drug bust in the Caribbean.
The fishing boat was discovered by a patrol plane of the US Coast Guard. On board there were twelve people.
All crew members have been arrested and transferred to Ponce in Puerto Rico. There, they were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
