8 million for projects to improve prison and police

WILLEMSTAD – The Dutch government will make 8 million guilders available through Usona for various projects to improve Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Kòrsou (SDDK) and the Police Corps Curaçao (KPC). In the presence of the Dutch representative Gerard van der Wulp, the former minister of Justice, Stanley Betrian, and the director of Usona, Reginaldo Doran, signed the financing agreement. The price tag attached to these projects is over 34 million guilders. The amount from Usona is sufficient to start the projects regarding the personnel, the buildings, and the infrastructure (among other things IT, equipment for the report center and communication systems) and ‘Operation’ (means for several specialties in the corps).

The projects for the KPC are to be completed late next year and for the prison late 2015. Both the prison and the police corps are to report on the developments every three months.
