Agreement “former” coalition Curacao

WILLEMSTAD - A new government is on the horizon in Curaçao. The former coalition parties signed on Thursday a willingness agreement for the formation of a new government.

This agreement was an initiative from Helmin Wiels, the leader of the independence party Pueblo Soberano.

The three parties have twelve of the 21 seats in the new parliament. The party councils of PS, MFK and MAN agreed on Wednesday for the formation of this new government, but the chances that former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte and some of his ministers will return in a new cabinet looks small.

Helmin Wiels has surprised everyone when he publicly supported and accepted the new screening’s law adopted by the interim government Betrian. It is generally expected that Schotte and two of his ministers will not come through this screening.

The new cabinet will be sworn on November 2, according to Wiels. On that day the new parliament will also be installed.
