Animal Care tackles major problem stray dogs
WILLEMSTAD - The Animal Protection Foundation is looking for donors through crowdfunding website Gofundme to address the widespread problem of stray dogs on the island.
The organization hopes to raise 95,000 euros to catch all stray dogs and sterilize them. This will be done during a period of six months. Then the dogs will be housed in a dog sanctuary.
The Animal Protection Foundation hopes to get a piece of land of 2 to 3 acres from the government for this project. According to Gregory Berry, president of the Animal Protection Foundation, it has recently become more difficult to get enough donations to fund all activities.
According to Berry, the island has a large stray dog problem and the number of new dogs on the street continues to grow. Donations can be made by clicking here.
