Aqualectra requests external assistance for repair faulty machines
WILLEMSTAD - About 10 foreign technicians are currently in Curaçao to help the utility company Aqualectra in repairing the broken machinery for the production of electricity.
This is to improve, as quickly as possible, the precarious power supply situation on the island. Since last year, the electricity producer and supplier said that they were barely able to meet the demand. There were problems with the machinery just in the period with little wind.
The Curaçao Refinery and Utilities (CRU) was also camping with problems and was not able to supply the demand. The spare capacity was also limited.
But the three production units that are currently inoperative, must again be connected to the grid no later than the first week of February, says Aqualectra director Darick Jonis.
