Aqualectra: “Water quality is good”

AqualectraWILLEMSTAD – Last Saturday, a message on BlackBerry Messenger was circulating about the quality of the drinking water distributed in Curacao. This message stated that there is a virus in the water which could be harmful to people’s health.

Utility company Aqualectra reacted through a press release stating that the message is absolutely not true. According to the BlackBerry message, the water should be boiled before drinking. Aqualectra emphatically denies this. According to the utility company, the quality of the water is tested daily by taking samples and investigated in their laboratory. Aqualectra regrets that such negative message is being circulated and that the people responsible for this are not realizing how much panic they are causing.

Aqualectra reiterates that is never disseminates messages using BlackBerry Messenger, but only through official media like radio, television, newspapers, Facebook and its own website.

Aqualectra once again states that there is nothing wrong with the water and it is not necessary to boil if before drinking.
