Awareness for the neighborhood – CMU gives checkups at ADC
WILLEMSTAD - The residents of Vredenberg and surroundings can get a basic idea of their health this weekend. Students of the Caribbean Medical University (CMU) will give all interested a free basic checkup during a CMU Mobile Health Clinic.
This coming Saturday, from 9 o’clock in the morning till 3 o’clock in the afternoon, the students of CMU will measure blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and body weight in the blood-drawing location of laboratory ADC at Vredenberg. After a short conversation about the findings and about the most common ailments on the island – among which high blood pressure and diabetes – the results are handed over to the person concerned.
ADC gladly supports this educational activity by facilitating its locality. The medical laboratory has been promoting professionalism in the care sector for years with informative presentations to youths, intern provisions as an internationally accredited learning institution and educational sessions for physicians.
The CMU Mobile Health Clinic, which is held several times a year at different locations, is useful because it enables the medical students to perform simple medical procedures in a real live environment. This happens under the supervision of a practicing physician.
