Ballast Nedam presents detailed plan for new hospital to Government

Hospital2WILLEMSTAD – On June 27 of this year, a delegation of the Dutch construction company Ballast Nedam held a presentation in Fort Amsterdam on the whole detailed plans for the construction of a new general hospital for Curaçao.

Present were the Prime Minister of Curacao, Ivar Asjes, the Minister of Health, Environment and Nature, Mr. Ben Whiteman, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim and the Minister of Justice, Mr. Nelson Navarro. Initially, the construction of the hospital was planned on the former Amstel brewery site. Ballast Nedam informed the Government that the plans can be realized on another wasteland (green field).

Hospital3In mid-2012, Ballast Nedam, after an International ‘Design, Build & Maintain’ public tender, was selected as the best candidate for Nos Hospital Nobo (NHN) project at the request of the Government and managed by (U) SONA.

Since the second half of 2012, EGM Architects, the locally-based architectural firm OeverZaaijer Lyongo, Valstar Simonis-for technical installations and Ballast Nedam itself have been elaborating on the plans.  They have worked together on the building structures and the construction process. Meanwhile the final draft is finished, which means that all architectural requirements are processed, the dimensions and the concrete structures are entirely calculated and recorded in detail. The technical equipment for both electrical, mechanical and cooling with the elevators were designed and ready for implementation.
