Caribbean Medical University (CMU) welcomes some 48 new students to Curaçao
WILLEMSTAD - They come from all over the world, although primarily from the USA, to start here a career in medicine.
On January 16th, 2017, an Orientation meeting was held followed by a tour of the island. Mr. Alfred Suares of the Police Department was the keynote speaker for this occasion.
Actual classes began January 17th, 2017. CMU offers 24 different courses to its students, divided into 3 trimesters of 14 weeks each for the pre-medical (PM) program, followed by 4 medical (MD) trimesters here in Curaçao, starting with basic biology, physics and chemistry through Pathology and Physical Diagnosis in the MD program.
After completing the semesters in Curaçao, the students will take the licensing exam in the US and complete 6 clinical semesters in CMU-affiliated hospitals in the United States.
