Clean Air Everywhere and SMOC again before the judge
WILLEMSTAD - The environmental organizations Clean Air Everywhere and SMOC will go to court again.
Unlike previous agreements the Environment Department and the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature have been unavailable for weeks for consultation on tackling emissions from Isla. This is according to Marc Verkade of Clean Air Everywhere.
Monday, both foundations will therefore ask the judge the resume the court session, which was scheduled for August 31. In June, the judge convinced the organizations and the government to meet and to come to an agreement. After an initial consultation was welcomed, the Environment Department and the Minister failed to act, according to the environmental organizations.
This is “rude and indecent”, said Verkade. Meanwhile the research done by the TNO into the green substance found in various neighborhoods located under the smoke of the refinery has been completed. The result should be disclosed within two weeks.
