CMU Mobile Health Clinic

medical tourismWILLEMSTAD - The CMU Mobile Health Clinic of two weeks ago was such a great success that the students of Caribbean Medical University will be repeating it this coming Saturday November 26th 2016 for the public at Wilhelmina Park in Punda. In view of the interest shown we are extending the hours from 10:00AM to 2:00PM in cooperation with D.M.O. During the Health Clinic, all persons who so desire can have their blood pressure taken and their blood sugar levels checked (diabetes screening). This time we will also be checking the weight and height of each person and determine the BMI (Body Mass Index). The BMI is an indication of obesity, one of the serious health problems affecting the public all over the world. The results are discussed with each volunteer right away and additional information about diabetes, heart disease and other possible causes are explained to each participant. If needed, they are encouraged to visit their doctor for additional consultation. There will be no charge for the check-ups.

The purpose of the training is for the students to get a chance to practice a few simple medical procedures and at the same time increase the awareness of the health of our community by accentuating the importance of two of the most important causes of illness on the island, being “high blood pressure” and “diabetes”.
