Commerce not happy with increasing fuel prices
WILLEMSTAD - Curacao Business Association (VBC) is not pleased with the substantial increase in fuel prices and has indicated this to the government. In a letter to Prime Minister Ivar Asjes, the association demands more transparency about the so-called price correction.
Asjes announced earlier this week during a press conference together with the Bureau Telecommunication, Post and Utility (BTP&U) that the increase has nothing to do with the price of crude oil on the world market, but it is based on the supply and demand for the oil derived products.
The association wants to know how this price correction is determined. The VBC is also wondering whether the government has considered the effect of price increases on the economy and what they intend to achieve with this.
