Construction company responsible for new hospital in serious problems
WILLEMSTAD - Ballast Nedam, the construction company behind Hospital Nobo Otrabanda, which is the new hospital being constructed in the downtown area is still in serious problems. The company announced today that it is adjusting its estimates for the result in 2014, through further cost overruns on major projects.
End of November last year, Ballast Nedam announced that all over 2014 they expect an operating loss of 35 million to 45 million. That result will now be "materially lower" the company said without mentioning a specific amount.
This adjustment follows after further cost overruns on the project highway A15 Maasvlakte-Vaanplein and A2 Maastricht. When the highway A15 project cost overruns "deteriorated" and the further development of the design of the traffic engineering tunnel installations resulted in significantly higher costs for the highway A2 project.
