Contract Aqualectra and Aggreko expires

AqualectraWILLEMSTAD – The utility company Aqualectra must have a working replacement for the generators that are currently being rented from Aggreko. Their contract will expire on August 31, 2014.

The Director of Aqualectra, Darick Jonis answered this during his presentation in parliament. The question was asked on February 20 of this year. “The replacement will come from the Dokweg plant where maintenance is now being done and new facilities will be constructed,” Jonis said.

Earlier plans to build a new plant at Bullenbaai are out of the question. The costs involved in building a new infrastructure are just too high. Jonis does not see the need to build a new plant if Dokweg already has what the utility company needs.

“The new construction means that there will be a significant increase in production costs. The government also requires from its utility company a good energy policy for the government. It must present a long -term vision until 2030. The government, as the majority shareholder, has to give the direction for this energy policy and then modify the legislation.
