Corendon new owner Veneto Beach

Veneto HotelWILLEMSTAD - Corendon is the new owner of the Veneto Beach Resort in Curacao which was declared bankrupt last August. The court approved Corendon's bid for the hotel. The company announced that it has plans to open the hotel again in December 2019.

The Minister of Economic Development Steven Martina says he is very happy with the acquisition by Corendon. “It indicates that people believe in the future of Curaçao, which is something very important. 350 rooms are built in one building and 450 in the other building. This means that a 350 staff are needed.”

At the beginning of this month, Corendon confirmed that it had made an offer to buy Veneto. "The location is great, so we hope to get positive news soon," said a spokeswoman at the time. “The interest is only in the hotel and not in the casino and restaurant.”

The Corendon spokesperson also confirmed that there are expansion plans for the Livingstone Resort on Jan Thiel, so that the Corendon supply in Curaçao will increase further. "The idea is now that 100 rooms will be added next year, but there are no exact plans yet." Corendon Hotels & Resorts acquired a substantial part of the Livingstone Jan Thiel Resort last year.
