CTB published 3rd Quarter Tourism Performance report
WILLEMSTAD - The third quarter of the year 2016 shows a slow performance of 6.4% decrease compared to the same period last year. 7,388 less stay-over arrivals were registered. The quarter started out with a slightly growth of 1.1% in July compared to last year.
In August, a 3.2% decrease was registered and September 2016 showed 16.4% fewer visitors than last year. The positive start of the quarter in visitor arrivals was mainly attributable to the diversity of markets that visit the island. Both the European and North American region recorded positive growth.
Main reason we are seeing less arrivals to Curaçao in August and September is the slow traffic from Venezuela. With respectively 34.9% and 54.9% decrease in August and September from Venezuela, our diversity in tourism arrivals was not able to book an overall growth in arrivals.
