Curaҫao Ports Authority NV (CPA) signed a contract with Nederex BV
WILLEMSTAD - (Nederex) and B.V. Damen Shipyards Gorinchem (Damen) on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Damen Shipyards and Nederex are engaged in ship repair and the provision of maritime services.
“The signing of this contract is the culmination of months of negotiations between CPA, Damen and Nederex,” said Humberto de Castro, CPA's CEO. “Back in April we signed an MOU and after finalizing some points we came back today to sign the contract, which will increase maritime traffic and business in our port.”
Damen is located in the Netherlands and operates 32 other ship and repair yards worldwide, with more than 9,000 people in service. Damen will offer its ship repair and marine services from Curaҫao and will work together with Nederex to exploit the concession granted by CPA to Nederex.
“We will continue working according to plan now that we have the contract finalized, said Jaap de Lange, Damen Services Director. “By the end of this year or early 2016 we will be in business with our own floating dock for maintenance and repairs for Damen customers in the region.”
