Curacao Athletics Association 50th anniversary

Besides the participation of 4 athletes from Curacao in the Olympic Games in Rio, the preparations for the Carifta Games 2017 are in full swing. To top it off; the association has its 50th anniversary! To celebrate this milestone, there will be various sports activities and festivities on Curacao in the week of 12 – 18 September.

Willem Cordillia, president of the Athletics Association proudly announces that besides all the activities for the Athletics Clubs, a special corporate event is being organized on Sunday September 18th. “The Waaigat in Punda will be fully transformed and displays 50 years of Athletics in Curacao. Companies, foundations, Flyer SEFBA - CABgroups and organizations can participate in the corporate relay, which will be organized as fundraising for the association and young athletes.” Says Cordillia.

The corporate relay is being held over 1 mile, where 5 participants representing an organization each run 330 meter. Companies are being invited to register for this relay and to support the association and the athletes.

With the proceeds of the activities, a special program will be initiated to support talented young athletes and prepare them for larger events like the Carifta Games, Dutch, European and Caribbean Championships.

C.A.B. at Brionplein on August 20:
This coming Saturday, the Curacao Athletics Association will be present at the Brionplein with a booth. The association will provide information about the Athletics in Curacao and it will also be possible for participants of the KLM Marathon to register here. Companies that are interested in the Corporate Relay can also receive more information here.

The website and Facebook page of the association is being updated with more information about the activities, the program and how companies can register for the corporate relay.
