Curaçao commemorates WWII victims
WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao commemorates the victims of World War II with a solemn ceremony at the Monument to the Waaigat on May 4.
This year is the centenary of the Curaçao resistance hero George Maduro.
Maduro died in Dachau concentration camp in 1945. The Dutch embassy in Washington therefore puts an extra wreath at the Dutch Carillon in Arlington. In August, in the public library of Willemstad there will be an exhibition of his life.
The miniature city in the Netherlands, the Madurodam was named after him.
