Curacao Government received presentation on FOL operations

FOL BaseWILLEMSTAD – Today the Prime Minister Daniel Hodge, Minister of Justice Nelson Navarro and Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning Earl Balborda paid a visit to the American military base U.S. Forward Operation Location (US FOL) at the Hato International Airport in Curacao.

President of Parliament Mike Franko, Director of the Department of Foreign Relations Arthur Kibbelaar and some other advisors of the Government and Parliament were also present during this presentation. FOL Commander Lieutenant Coronel Tim Beer and U.S. Consul General  Mrs. Valerie Belon received the delegation.

Objective of this visit was for the Government to receive information about the fight against drugs in the region, which has been FOL’s operation since the year 2000.

The Government of Curacao has given a lot of importance to the relations with the United States and has taken the initiative to inform itself of the activities of the base. Lieutenant Coronel Beer gave an explanation to the delegation of their voluntary work during their free time. This is to demonstrate the importance the United States gives to the relation with Curacao.

The Government of Curacao meets on a regular basis with representatives of the American General Consulate and FOL. U.S. is one of the most important countries in the foreign relations policy of the Government.
