Curaçao has become sunnier
WILLEMSTAD – According to the annual report of the weather station at Hato of the Curaçao Meteorological Service, Curaçao has become sunnier. In 2014, the sun shone on average 9 hours per day, half an hour longer than normal.
The main cause is the decrease in clouds. And that was evident again on the amount of rain that fell in 2014. In total, nearly 400 mm, 25 percent less than the year before. With respect to a period of 30 years, even a third less rain fell on Hato.
The maximum temperature at the airport was, on average, slightly more than 31 degrees. That is higher than normal. The hottest day was August 23 with 36 degrees, the coldest day was January 9, when the temperature came down to 22 degrees Celsius.
