Curaçao Ponton Festival presents big names

Jiwan Gonesh, Elisabeth Kok, Gisgard Felida, Steven Martina, Janine de WindWILLEMSTAD - Organizer Sumusica Curaçao B.V. today announced the program of the first edition of the Curaçao Pontoon Festival at acoya Curacao Resort Villa's & Spa. This music festival takes place from April 5 to 7 and announces a whole series of artists, including Jeon, Hef, Ronnie Flex, Rich Kalash, Randal Corsen Orchestra, Morgan Heritage, Bill Champlin and Grupo Extra.

This three-day music festival is an initiative of Sumusica Curaçao B.V. and presents a mix of recognized names and emerging talents in the local and international music world. The Curaçao Pontoon Festival will be set up on two stages in the heart of the capital Willemstad, close to the famous floating Queen Emma Bridge. On Thursday, April 5, a free concert by Son de Tikizia, Randal Corsen Orchestra and Arnell Orchestra will be organized on Brionplein. Arnell Orchestra will pay homage to singer Mafalda Minguel. Mafalda Minguel is a legendary icon that has been active in the music world on Curaçao for 63 years. Son de Tikizia will also dedicate their program to the Panamanian singer Ruben Blades, with whom they often perform. Friday, April 6, is characterized as an urban and hip-hop evening. Jeon, Hef, Ronnie Flex, Rich Kalash and Grupo Extra are the headlines of the Friday night. The Aruban singer Jeon Arvania now breaks internationally with the song 'Machika', which is a collaboration with J. Balvin and Anitta. Grupo Extra also scored a hit with the bachata song 'Me Emborrachare'.

By the way, reggae and rock lovers can enjoy the top artists Morgan Heritage, Bill Champlin, John Elefante, Fran Cosmo and Alex Ligertwood on Saturday, April 7. Morgan Heritage is one of the best reggae bands of this moment. This reggae family band has received a Grammy Award for the best reggae album in 2016 and is again nominated for the same coveted recognition. Twice Grammy Award winner Bill Champlin is best known as the singer of the band Chicago. Some hits from Chicago are 'Hard Habit to Break', 'Look' and 'Hard to Say I'm Sorry'. Alex Ligertwood is a Scottish singer, guitarist and drummer. He is best known as the main vocalist of Santana. This Latin American rock band achieved international success with the hits 'Black Magic Woman', 'You Know That I Love You' and 'Oye Como Va'. Tibbaa offers event organizations an integral and innovative online platform. Tibbaa Caribbean will use its expertise to take ticket sales to a higher level. The Acoya Curacao Resort Villa's & Spa also takes care of the accommodation of the international artists.

Curaçao Ponton Festival must be an annual event. This event is supported by the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), Curaçao Airport Holding, Curaçao Investment & Export Promotion Agency and Curaçao Ports Authority. Minister Steven Martina (MEO) emphasized the importance of the events industry for the economy. According to the Minister, it is a positive development that events contribute to the economy and employment. "Local entrepreneurs can count on the support of our ministry," Minister Martina indicated. CTB's marketing manager Janine Neef-de Windt explained that the tourist agency is committed to forming Curaçao as the stage for the Caribbean. Big events attract international visitors from the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean to the island. The events industry is an incentive for the growth of tourism.
