Curgas gets own storage tanks
WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao propane gas company (Curgas) has purchased four new tanks with a capacity of 30,000 gallons per tank. These tanks have been delivered to the company on the premises of the refinery where they will be installed before the end of this year.
“With this addition, Curgas will have a reserve of propane gas for two weeks. This means that if the supply of gas, which is delivered by the Isla Refinery, is stagnant, Curgas then has its own storage to continue with its service to the community.
Earlier, the number of all gas cylinders was increased in Curaçao and Bonaire. Also, the company met with customs to discuss the transportation of gas cylinders between the two islands in case it is needed.
Curgas has a plant on the premises of the Isla refinery, which is directly coupled to the propane gas plant of the refinery. Here is where Curgas refills its propane gas cylinders. In a case of interruption in the production of propane gas, Curgas will then be directly affected, which in turn will cause problems in the distribution of this much needed product. In order to minimize the dependence on the Isla Refinery, Curgas has now a private storage.
