Delivery containers delayed
WILLEMSTAD - For several years it has been a problem before the holidays. There are once again problems with the delivery of containers to the freight operators on the island.
The distribution of containers, which enters via the port, has been delayed. Curaçao Ports Services (CPS) says that it only takes a few days, but sources within the trucking industry indicate that the delay is about two weeks. The reason for the delays could be the shortage of undercarriages. These are required in order to transport the containers to the freight companies.
During this time of the year, there are also more containers entering the harbor compared to other months. According to CPS, their staff makes overtime and the port through which containers must pass is open longer during the weekends.
