Diverse program during Tula commemoration

Tula MonumentWILLEMSTAD – Music, dance and fine words. The annual commemoration at the Tula-Rif was prepared for all ages. A few hundred people came together last Saturday night to jointly celebrate Tula-day and to  commemorate the national hero.

The audience was diverse. Babies from a few months to men and women aged over eighty who did not want to miss the event.  "We had a mixed program," says Frank Quiridongo from the  History of Slavery Platform. "Music, dance and poetry for everyone's enjoyment."

The commemoration began with the national anthem followed by the traditional wreath-laying ceremony. The wreaths placed at the Tula monument were done by Health Minister Ben Whiteman and MFK MP Amerigo Thode.
