Dr. Mourillon becomes new health inspector

HospitalWILLEMSTAD – The Council of Minister has agreed to appoint Dr. Mourillon as the new health inspector for Curacao. Outgoing Minister Ben Whiteman says that he doesn’t know what Dr. Mourillon will do exactly but he has all confidence in him.

Mourillon will replace the well known former health inspector Jan Huurman. He left the island after his contract was not renewed. Huurman has stirred up quite some commotion on the island because he was extremely transparent about his work. He was always in the media denouncing medical malpractices for example. In April it became known that the Department of Health Inspection would not renew the contract with Mr. Huurman. Joe Alcala, Inspector General for Public Health, said that they were looking for a local professional to do the job.
