Explosion Asphalt Lake came by ignoring advice

ExplosionWILLEMSTAD - The explosion at Asphalt Recovery Lake on Wednesday March 13, 2013  in which an employee was killed and four wounded, could have been avoided. This was explained by an anonymous source to the media.

According to this source, a supervisor advised the welders not to do any welding at that moment. The employees performed tests to see if there were excess of gas present in the environment and if they could perform the welding in a safe manner. The test revealed that the amount of gas in the area was safe. According to the supervisor, the situation was ‘dangerous’ to work in. This source said that the severely injured (and even killed) employees were the ones who went against the supervisor’s advice.

Director Jason Jose Debrot declined to comment in the news. He awaits the results of the official investigation.
