Family hopes Texas woman who disappeared in Curaçao is still alive
TEXAS, WILLEMSTAD - The family of a Texas woman who went missing during a snorkeling expedition in Curaçao more than a week ago is holding onto hope that she is still alive.
Amanda Waller, 29, was snorkeling with friends off the coast of Curaçao when she told them that she was heading back to shore. Though described as a strong swimmer, she never made it to the shore.
Waller's husband told ABC News that the group takes a vacation every summer. They chose Curaçao, he says, because they had heard that "the diving and the beaches were beautiful."
"We're hoping of course that she's found alive," friend Terri Youngs said, "but...either way, I think her family deserves closure with knowing exactly what happened."
