First Aid Sehos soon accessible only through Roodeweg
WILLEMSTAD - The emergency department of the hospital will soon be accessible only through the Roodeweg. The entrance to the Hamelbergweg will be closed starting May 18. This is according to Dito Garmers from Usona.
Construction of the new hospital is in a different stage right now. The crossing from the area behind the Colon shopping center through the Hamelberweg to the hospital will now take place. This is the reason why the Hamelbergweg will be closed.
The crossing had to take place earlier, but because of the vicissitudes around the morgue and medical injection center on the old hospital grounds this was not possible. A consortium of banks and a disciplinary measure imposed by a court delayed the demolition of these two buildings. Meanwhile, both buildings have been demolished. Though the final word in the manner in which this took place has not been said yet by the court of justice.
Usona is now trying to catch up on the time lost. The crossing was supposed to take place earlier this year. Because the morgue and the medical injection center were in the way, Usona instructed the construction company Ballast Nedam to proceed with the portion that was already under construction.
The entrance to the hospital located at the Hamelbergweg will now be closed. Ambulances will have to go to the emergency room using the entrance at the Pater Euwensweg. The ambulances can also use the existing entrance at the Roodeweg. This is the only entrance for ordinary citizens who also have to go to the emergency room.
