Garcia’s detention extended
WILLEMSTAD - Former director of the Giro Bank, Eric Garcia will remain at least another eight days behind bars. This was decided by the magistrate according to the spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Norman Serphos.
Garcia’s detention was already extended by eight days last week. He was arrested on July 20 of this year. On arrival at the Hato airport, Garcia was arrested on suspicion of embezzling 11 million US dollars and falsifying a bank statement of the Maduro & Curiel’s Bank in the settlement of the bankruptcy of the Banco de Maracaibo. The bank was declared bankrupt in 1994.
