GZE distances itself from “fake news”

Guangdong ZhenrongWILLEMSTAD - In an official press release, the Chinese State Company Guangdong Zhenrong Energy (GZE) stated to have taken note on December 18, 2017 that the website International Oil Daily of Energy Intelligence published an article titled as “China’s Zhenrong Halts Overseas Energy Plans”.

“This article has been spreading in Curaçao immediately after it was published. On behalf of GZE, I hereby clarify that statement of “Guangdong Zhenrong has abandoned plans for major refining and LNG investment on the island of Curaçao in the Caribbean and Myanmar. The article is fake and without factual causes. GZE has never made such decision and statement,” said GZE in their press release.

GZE indicated that the project of modernization and upgrade of Curaçao energy system and the project of LNG receiving terminal (the Curaçao projects) are one of the most important projects in Curaçao and it links to the heart of all Curaçao people. The above referenced fake news tends to cause confusion and panic in the Curaçao community. “Therefore I strongly condemn such irresponsible behavior of the individuals at Energy Intelligence. We will reserve our rights to take appropriate legal actions when and where necessary,” said GZE.

“I also would like to use this opportunity to assure the Curaçao people that GZE will not abandon the Curaçao Projects and will work together with the Curaçao government and people to achieve the success. GZE has teamed up with the partners and got ready both financially and technically. You will see visible project progress very soon and the rumors will disperse themselves.”

“As we stated previously, GZE’s goal in Curaçao is to grow together with the Curaçao economy and people, so as to achieve the win-win objective. We always appreciate the trust and support of the Curaçao people, and we will do our best to deserve it.”

The press release was signed by Chen Bingyan, Director and Authorized Representative of Guangdong Zhenrong Energy.
