Half of budget health care goes to medicines, specialists, laboratories and international medical services
WILLEMSTAD - Half of the healthcare budget in Curaçao is allocated for medicines, specialists, laboratories and international medical services meaning when a patient goes abroad for healthcare.
20 cents of each issued guilder is spent on medicines, 14 cents on the specialist, 9 cents on laboratories and 7 cents on international medical services. With the completion of the new hospital, that will change, experts in the sector say.
The hospital itself will cost 60 million extra. The budget for Health, Environment and Nature is almost 800 million guilders per year.
