Health Inspection carries out an investigation after media coverage

Jan HuurmanWILLEMSTAD - Reporting in the media has prompted the Health Care Inspectorate to investigate the functioning of a surgeon at the St. Elisabeth Hospital.

It is nonsense that is inspectorate has been aware of complaints against the surgeon for months, as claimed by the Member of Parliament for the coalition party MAN, Giselle Mc William. This is according to the Inspector-General Jan Huurman. According to Huurman, the Inspectorate heard about the unrest in the hospital surrounding the surgeon until last week Thursday.

In the meantime, as was reported earlier, the surgeon has been placed on non-active by the department, but according to Huurman, the surgeon himself decided not to perform any surgery this week.

Huurman rejects the fact that a parliamentarian is fueling the situation by stating things that are not based on the truth. He blames the MAN MP for associating deaths with this surgeon, which is simply not true.

According to Huurman, mentioning the name of the surgeon was also unnecessary.
