January driest month of the last thirty years
WILLEMSTAD - January 2016 will be remembered as one of the driest months of the last thirty years. This is according to the Meteorological Department Curaçao (Meteo).
In January 2016 there were only 8 millimeters of rain measured. In 1987 and in 1988 it was even dryer. That was respectively 2.9 millimeters and 3 millimeters of rain. In comparison, last year 37.7 millimeters of rain were measured.
The upcoming three months it will remain relatively dry. It is expected that the total rainfall will be between 50 and 100 millimeters. Weather phenomenon El Niño is now weakening, says the Meteo.
