Judge gives InselAir last chance to stay in the air

InselAirWILLEMSTAD - The ailing local airline InselAir has received a very last chance from the judge to gets its business in order. By December 4, it must be clear whether the company will be taken over. If not, the end threatens.

InselAir has been in trouble for years. A large part of the staff and the fleet were cut away to get financially on top again, but the airline is still in suspension of payments. Passengers notice the consequences of the problems regularly because of frequent flights cancellations and delays.

Under the supervision of a bankruptcy trustee, new investors are being sought for months. InterCaribbean Airways seems to be the biggest contender to take over InselAir, but the American One Laser Group (OLG) is still participating in the takeover battle.

The judge in Curaçao decided this week that InselAir will have until 4 December to come up with a definitive plan for the future. If that fails, the postponement of payment will probably be lifted and InselAir must be declared bankrupt.
