Kabbara wants a large settlement, CTB offers only three month

Ghatim KabbaraWILLEMSTAD – Ghatim Kabbara, who is still officially the Curacao Tourist Board (CTB) Director, wants a large settlement for his dismissal. On the other hand, CTB has offered him 3 months of payment. This means that both parties are now at an impasse in this case.

During these last days, the parties have met to try to come to an agreement and thus avoid a court case. But up until now nothing has been accomplished. As it stands now, there are no consensus between the parties.

CTB has sent Kabbara on a mandatory leave and afterwards he was suspended for irregularities with the payment of house rent which was in fact payment of a mortgage. This change was made without the consent of the Board of Directors.

Another aspect of this case, which caught our attention, is that a member of the Board of Directors, Donardo Vrolijk, defended Kabbara in the media. There is a package of correspondence and some e-mails circulating on this issue. Vrolijk’s statements on this issue can be vital in a court case. Vrolijk was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors by the political party MFK.
