Kingdom focuses on pelagic fishing
WILLEMSTAD - The waters surrounding the Caribbean islands of the Kingdom are going to be better monitored. There is a lack of effective management of resources in the waters surrounding the islands.
There is now an agreement between Aruba, Curacao, St. Maarten, Netherlands and the three BES islands on the approach to sustainable fisheries. The countries focus primarily on the pelagic fisheries wahoo and tuna. These play an important role in the protection of large predatory fishes.
