Legal limits on noise reduced with carnival

earWILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Health has adjusted the legal limit on noise for Carnival. Instead of 100 decibels, the bands must not exceed 90 decibels. The loud noise can permanently damage hearing, according to the ministry. Nevertheless, participants and spectators are still advised to wear ear protection. Persons who stay for more than two hours in a noise zone of 90 decibels can have hearing problems.
