Less students to the Netherlands
WILLEMSTAD - Between 205 and 210 students will travel on Sunday, July 26th to the Netherlands to continue with their education. It is certainly less than 30 compared to last year, when 243 students left the island.
The tendency to study in the region is growing, while, as expected, the University of Curaçao (UoC) remains the largest training institution for local students.
This is according to Margit de Freitas, director of the Foundation Student Loans Curacao (SSC). "Most of our students go to the UoC." Registration started this month for the new students. Whether there are fewer students this year because of the increase in the tuition is not known.
As for the SSC students going to the Netherlands, a total of 384 requests was received at the beginning of this year. Most applications were for a college education.
