Lien on Marriott remains in force
WILLEMSTAD – Despite the previously announced sale of the Rif Resort, known as the Marriott Hotel, the lien on the property will remain in force. This was recently declared by the lawyer representing the employees Olga Kostrzewski.
The lawyer explains that as long as the lien is not lifted the sale of the hotel cannot take place. She also said that as long as the employees do not have a clear understanding about what will happen to them and their payment the lien will remain in force.
Last week the court of justice agreed to the extension of the lien until December 1 of this year as was requested by the lawyer.
During the weekend the Minister of Economic Development Eugene Rhuggenaath announced that the hotel complex was sold to the Orco Group and that the hotel will close its doors right after North Sea Jazz Festival, which is this coming weekend.
